Either way seems technically correct, but your suggestion reads better.

Yin is represented by a broken line, yang by an unbroken line. Yin is associated with femininity, yang with masculinity.

You are quite correct, yin (associated with femininity) is represented by a broken line and yang (associated with masculinity) by an unbroken line. The text will be revised to resolve that confusion.
