‘to lift the nation from the ashes of communism’?
Whatever do you mean? Communism is by no means dead in Russia – it is a view espoused as an ideal by many. Your metaphorical ‘sunken state’ brings with it seriously biased implications – that Russians cannot, as a nation, find their own solutions to their own problems; that the nation is an entity separate from its intellectuals … please reword for neutrality.

Thank you, LC, for your feedback. Indeed the phrase “the ashes of communism” is somewhat poetic, and, as you point out, can be interpreted as biased. The text will be revised.
