Hello Divya,

Thank you for your feedback. A wide range of possible answers could be given to your question: For example, many people believe that the great epics of the Mahabharata and the Ramayana describe real historical events; however, scholars usually see these stories as representing deeply meaningful tales of mythology. Another suggestion is that these stories may have derived from real events but then were augmented with layers of additional meaning over time. Normally, the viewpoint taken on the factuality of these stories is tied to one’s religious convictions. Hinduism does not traditionally place a great deal of emphasis on the question of historicity since expressions of divine ‘Truth’ are considered to transcend time and to be eternal.
