There is considerable new research that show Francis Drake anchored in Nehalem Bay, Oregon in 1579. You should do history the service to check out the website http://www.FortNehalem.net

Thank you, Garry, for your feedback. The possibility that Nehalem Bay was Drake’s landing site will be added to the article.

I’ve updated information with recent actions regarding New Albion for you to consider.

On August 14, 2020, the California State Historical Resources Commission publicly reviewed and endorsed the application for the California Historical Landmark, Site of New Albion. After over a year of accepting public comments, on October 6, 2021, the Director of State Parks signed the official designation making it CHL 1061.

You can read the Commission’s report here, https://ohp.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=30293, under the section “August 14, 2020 SHRC Meeting”. You can review official documents here, https://www.discoveringnovaalbion.org/additional-resources, under “California Historical Landmark Documents”.

Most kind regards,
Steve Wright
