It is a pity that the author failed to articulate Hume’s exposition of the three laws of justice which are analogues to the 3 blessings. I would take a more positive view of Hume. No one died from his political philosophy. On the contrary he laid a sounder basis for liberal democracy than Locke did. He recognized the functional value of religion. Theological he cleared the decks, showed that traditonal theology was wanting revealing the necessity for new ideas such as Unificationism.
